The idea of a Two Hearts comeback tour is delightful – they never went away.
The act won a lot of fans in Edinburgh last year and now the New Zealand comedy duo, Laura Daniel and Joseph Moore, have returned to continue poking fun at the staples of the pop industry.
Their Fringe show is a fast-moving concert full of high quality music, song, satire and some very sexy dancing that starts with a fabulously daft piece called Who’s Back, or maybe Whose Back?
It’s a show that parodies the self-importance of celebrities in which the stars also enjoy parodying themselves.
Laura is a well-known performer in her home country and has recently been the runner up in its version of Strictly.
Laura and Joseph have both worked on three seasons of TV3 comedy shows Funny Girls and five seasons of Jono & Ben and are regular writers and featured guests for panel show 7 Days.
On stage they present themselves as a celebrity act who are also a couple. The off-stage reality is that they when Two Hearts formed, Laura and Joseph’s relationship was purely professional – but romance developed and they are now a couple.
The act has been proving popular and they are positively compared to Flight of The Conchords and The Lonely Island.
The pair are also very hardworking. During the Fringe they are also part of Snort – a sell out Kiwi comedy troupe starring them and Rose Matafeo along with more of NZ’s most successful and comedians.
Since arriving at the Fringe Two Hearts have been picked up by the BBC and given a ★★★★★ rating by Diva which described the show as “an hour of explosive joy”.
In time away from the stage the couple have been enjoying looking round Edinburgh once again, including spending time on Calton Hill.
