Edfringe Focus: OCD shows at the Fringe: Two show makers share their views and experiences

In this mini-panel conversation Bibi Couceiro and Tana Sirois talked to Paul Levy about OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) at the Fringe, reflected in their personal journeys and their shows at the Edinburgh Fringe. Tana brings Untethered and Bibi brings 123. Shit. That’s my OCD.

We covered a lot of ground, ranging beyond the shows themselves into the public understanding of OCD and how it plays into the creative process in theatre writing and performing.

Untethered is a solo theatre show performed by Tana Sirois at Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2025. The autobiographical comedy shares the story of a queer, demisexual woman grappling with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) while seeking love. The performance explores themes of self-acceptance, mental health, and intimate connection as the protagonist confronts intrusive thoughts that manifest as imaginary monsters.

The show combines storytelling, audience interaction, and multimedia elements, creating an engaging experience about vulnerability and identity. Tana Sirois is the solo performer. The portrayal brings a candid and personal perspective on living with OCD and navigating desire for intimacy while staying true to oneself.

123. Shit. That’s my OCD is a solo theatre monologue performed at Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2025 at the Gilded Balloon Patter House venue. It centres on a young woman struggling to hide her obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) symptoms, set against the backdrop of her PTSD from sexual abuse, which exacerbated her OCD. The performance mixes verse and prose to explore her feelings of not being “normal” as she copes with the condition in a world full of discomfort and unwanted contact.

The piece is a tragicomedy that uses raw, honest storytelling without additional cast or elaborate staging. It is suitable for audiences aged 14 and above and provides an intimate and personal look into mental health challenges involving OCD and trauma.
