Edinburgh Fringe Interview: Living on the Moon: In Conversation with Molly McFadden

Molly McFadden is a theatre artist and performer known for her solo show “Living on the Moon” at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2025. She holds an MFA from Florida State University and has a background in theatre and cabaret performance in New York City and regional Equity theatres across the US. Her work often blends storytelling, music, and puppetry.

Living on the Moon is a solo performance by Molly McFadden at the 2025 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The show takes place at the Gilded Balloon Patter House. Written and performed by Molly McFadden, the piece centres on her experience during her mother’s twelve-year illness with Alzheimer’s disease. The performance includes music, puppetry, and personal storytelling, with a puppet named Memory representing her mother. The narrative also addresses Molly’s own diagnosis of Mild Cognitive Impairment and her genetic link to Alzheimer’s. The show is directed by Michael Glavan. It covers themes of memory, loss, and familial relationships, and depicts the realities of living with degenerative illness.

Paul Levy interviewed Writer and Performer Molly McFadden about this important theatre production directed by Michael Glavan. Michael Glavan is a theatre maker and teacher from Cleveland, Ohio, with a focus on process-driven and devised storytelling. He studied at Kent State University and spent nearly a decade working as an actor and director Off-Broadway and at regional theatres in the United States. During this time, he contributed to the development and production of many new musicals and plays. He was also part of a multidisciplinary collective presenting original devised works in New York City. Since returning to the Midwest, Glavan remains active as a collaborator and advocate for new work, serving as associate producer and dramaturg for Cleveland Play House’s New Ground Theatre Festival and as a company member of the ensemble-based Seat of the Pants theatre in Northeast Ohio.
