Insiders is a theatre show at Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2025 presented by Bethany Christian Trust’s Creative Expressions programme. The play offers insight into life inside prison and the challenges faced by inmates. It centers on three men: Danny, who struggles with anger and loneliness; Craig, who finds strength in his new faith; and Richard, a middle-class newcomer who feels out of place.
When tragedy strikes, each must confront their beliefs about themselves and their future. The production features compelling performances and original music, bringing emotional depth to the themes of imprisonment, rehabilitation, and hope.
Originally created with Scottish prisoners during the COVID-19 pandemic, the play toured several prisons before coming to the Fringe. It runs at various times and is staged in Scotland.
Paul Levy spoke with co-creator and performer, Sam Rowe about the work the Trust undertakes with prisoners and the artisic results that also led to an Edinburgh Fringe show.
