Kate Saffin caught up with Mychelle Colleary on the eve of her departure for Edinburgh 2025. They talked last year about Mychelle’s first experience of developing a solo auto biographical show Ambitious Underachiever and bringing it, newly hatched, to Edinburgh in 2024.
You can listen to that interview here
She describes the show as ‘Part memoir. Part survival howl. Part late-night piano bar set with a side of Sondheim, jazz, original music, self-deprecating humour and quiet rage.’
Now, a year later, Mychelle talks to Kate about some of the ways the show has shifted, changed and developed; the venues and festivals she has taken it to and her hopes and fears as she heads back for a short run at PBH’s Free Fringe @ Carbon, Room 3 in the final week of the Fringe.
