Prague Fringe is an annual independent theatre festival held in Prague, Czech Republic, founded by Steve Gove. Originally from Scotland, Gove moved to Prague in the late 1990s and launched the festival inspired by the Edinburgh Fringe. Prague Fringe presents performances in English and other languages, with its 2025 edition running from May 26 to May 31 across several venues in the city’s Mala Strana district. It runs from 25th to 30th May in 2026.
Each year, it features about 40 shows and more than 200 performances, covering theatre, comedy, music, dance, and storytelling. The festival draws artists from around the world and is organized by an international team led by Steve Gove, who continues to serve as Festival Director.
Prague Fringe is known for hosting a diverse and eclectic mix of productions, including solo acts, experimental works, and international premieres. The event operates with unticketed or affordable entry for many shows, and offers a gathering space at its Fringe Club for performers and audience members to meet after hours. Theatre and showmakers have given this fringe almost legendary status for its human scale and community ethos.
