Harley Brooke Walker presents Not My Grandmother’s Daughter at Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2025. This solo show runs from July 30 to August 24 at the Gilded Balloon, Appleton Tower (Eve venue), with performances around 60 minutes. The piece blends storytelling, shadow puppetry, sound, and papier-mâché, exploring the intergenerational relationship between a young woman, her mother, and her grandmother.
Drawing from real recorded memories gathered during a summer with her grandmother, the show reflects themes of grief, identity, and familial connection across generations. It invites audiences to reflect on maternal legacy through a visually and emotionally rich performance. The show is recommended for ages 12 and above and is directed by Michael Franco.
Harley spoke with Paul Levy about their love of making stories from shadow puppetry and the stories their grandmother told.
