Colchester Fringe Interviews: Megan Juniper’s shares with Fringe Review’s Dr.Pants how her life changed with “Two Blue” lines.

From the people that brought you “Meggie’s Measures” in 2023, “My Fanny Valentine: Rebirthed” in 2024 and “Love Me Tinder: Unhinged” in 2025, get ready for a new semi-autobiographical comedy about the trials and tribulations of parenthood starting with pregnancy, the lead up to birth and the months that follow. Megan Juniper spoke with her biggest fan (and Fringe Review’s resident interviewer) Dr.Pants to talk about the new show. You can catch it during Colchester Fringe October 24 – November 1st.

NAP: Hello Megan! As you know, I’m one of your biggest fans. Your shows are always a highlight of Colchester Fringe. Tell us: what is Two Blue about?

MJ: Two Blue is a semi-autobiographical comedy about our experiences of becoming parents from pregnancy and the early stages of parenthood, told through the art of comedy, songs and maybe a bit of audience interaction.

Leggy Blonde Production’s shows have been based on moments lived in our own lives and this so happens to reflect our current experience of having a baby. We have previously spoken about online dating, weird quirks and foibles and sexual health.

NAP: Last year, you and your (then) unborn baby won the “best on-stage duo” award. But now you are sharing the stage with a far, far, far older person — your partner. What is that experience like?

We are a couple who have written the show together (for the first time, hopefully not the last) and also performing together. It’s nice in the sense that you have them to hold your hand both literally and metaphorically but is also a challenge because you know each other so well. This is the first time in a while that I have written and performed with someone else so it makes a nice change to share the stage and who better than with Luke.

Luke is normally behind the scenes than he is on stage. What has that transition been like for him?
He’s finding it ok, just a little bit anxious with having to put something out there and see people’s reactions to how the performance is going first hand. Until that first show to an audience it will be hard to know.

NAP: Wait a second, if you’re performing on stage, and if Luke is performing on stage, then who’s watching the baby?

MJ: We will be asking friends and family to help throughout.

NAP: Being a parent is difficult, let alone trying to put on a fringe show. What has been the biggest challenge in performing your work?

Trying to write the show has been a challenge in itself as the only time we have to write is when our baby is asleep. Last year was a different story with the performing being a challenge as I was 8 months pregnant. This is also Luke’s first time performing and our first time performing together.

NAP: Now I’m not a parent (thank goodness), is this show still accessible to us childless folks? Or is Two Blue more an inside joke for parents?

Our writing style is very approachable so even if this story is not your story, you will find moments that are relatable. If you have children, you can laugh with us and if you don’t have children, feel free to laugh at us. We are hopeful audiences leave joyful at the wonders of life and wanting to tell other people about the show.

NAP: You’re a celebrated fixture of Colchester Fringe by this point. But why do you keep returning? What is it about Colchester Fringe that is so special?

MJ: Colchester Fringe is on our doorstep, it’s our home town so it would be rude not to perform as part of it. This is our 4th instalment at the Colchester Fringe and we just love performing, the audiences, staff and other artists. It’s become a real family.

NAP: What is next for Leggy Blonde Productions after Two Blue? Any hints you can give us to the next project?

MJ: We may have some exciting life events coming up so follow our socials for updates.

You can catch Two Blue on Sat 24 October 1:00 pm, Fri 30 October 10:00 pm, and Sun 1 November 6:00 pm during Colchester Fringe. While you’re here, why stop at babies?
