ACTION THEATRE (ITALY) AT THE EDINBURGH FRINGE
Guest Blogger: Rupert Raisin, Director
We are an English Teaching Theatre Company based in Turin who have performed shows using half-mask and puppetry to nearly 1 million Italian students.
For the last four summers, a team of 10 company actors have joined director Rupert Raison in Turin to take part in a unique four-year project to discover the roots of Commedia dell’ Arte.
We are delighted to be able to share with you daily news about our rehearsals of The Italians in England and our Commedia dell’ Arte tour that takes us from our studio in Turin to a stately home in Suffolk, the Edinburgh Fringe and Stratford-upon-Avon, where we will be performing a two-hour show in the grounds of Ettington Park.

As the blog progresses, Lecoq-trained mask expert and director of Action Theatre, Rupert Raison, will share with you his empirical insights into the art of the mask.
Uniquely, Rupert will talk not only about the leather masks of Commedia dell’ Arte, but also the wooden masks of Bali, as the company will also be performing a second show Democrazy in a co-production with theSpaceUK.
