Clare Roberts from FringeReview spoke with Australian comedy performer Jess Fuchs about Jess Fuchs: Feral. “Not all those who wander are lost. Sure… but some who wander are walking slowly because they’ve shattered their coccyx on the Cliffs of Moher. Jess Fuchs left home to avoid her problems and returned even more broken. This debut is less an hour of stand-up, more a much-needed debrief session with your best friend.”
Following a major Australian tour and building an audience of over 100,000 followers online, Jess makes her first full Edinburgh Festival Fringe run this summer with Feral at Pleasance Courtyard: Bunker Two from 5th – 30th August (6:55pm).
“After years of trying to improve herself, fix herself and shrink herself into something more socially acceptable, Jess realised the problem wasn’t that she was “too much,” but that women are constantly taught to treat themselves like projects needing correction. Feral explores the pressure women face to become smaller, quieter, prettier, thinner, calmer, more maternal and more emotionally manageable, while simultaneously being told to feel empowered by it.
“Would you like to speak with Jess? Or would you be interested in a written piece from her? She is happy to speak about body image, shame, dating, motherhood expectations, loneliness, internet culture and the exhausting pressure to constantly optimise yourself.”
