FringeReview Award-winners, Theatre Movement Bazaar, are back at the Fringe with their new musical, Tiny Little Town. The new show from is billed as “a new musical comedy reimagining Ukrainian playwright, Nikolai Gogol’s 19th century satire, “The Government Inspector”. In TINY LITTLE TOWN, a small town in 1970s America is thrown into chaos when its corrupt bureaucrats mistakenly identify a visiting stranger as a Government Inspector sent from Washington, D.C. to investigate their town. The show is a hilarious and timely indictment of corruption, conspiracy mongers, and crooked bureaucrats.”
Having more than impressed the critics (including FringeRevew) in 2011 with the five star sell-out Chekhov remix ANTON’S UNCLES, they followed with astonishing takes on Three Sisters in TRACK 3, The Godfather in BIG SHOT, and the Grail Myth in GRAIL PROJECT. The company has fast become a Fringe favorite with their inventive adaptations and high energy performances.
TMB “has built it’s repertoire re-imagining classic texts with its unique mixture of text, movement, and dance. Over the past several shows, TMB co-founders, Kronis + Alger, have been collaborating with composer Wes Myers to add songs to their interdisciplinary productions, taking advantage of the many skills of its ensemble members and expanding the company’s unique approach to storytelling”.

Let’s go back in time. In 2011, Paul Levy gave TMB an outstanding review and theatre award for Anton’s Uncles. “The piece flows and changes, visually, vocally and musically like a switchback railway. There really are several pieces of theatre going on at the same time and you could return and just focus on each one at each new viewing: the theatre of eye contact, the theatre of dialogue, the theatre of dance and physical gesture, the theatre of musical mood and humour, and the theatre of ensemble movement. I went to see it twice. I’ll go and see it again, and this is a show where I’ll notice something new and precious each time.” So this is a show not to be missed and a strong recommendation from FringeReview at this year’s Fringe.
