Performer and Company co-founder David Robinson talks about how the play came into being, the importance of research and the approach to theatre taken by Searchlight Theatre.
” Poignant drama interspersed with war songs and emotive poetry. The Reverend Geoffrey Studdert-Kennedy was a hero to the lads in the trenches giving out his little gospels and fags in equal measure. He believed a padre’s place was on the front line taking the same risks as the men in the trenches. His changing and darkening view on The Great War is sombrely reflected in his stirring poetry.”
