Adapting Shakespeare: Jo Tomalin talks to Laurel Scotland-Stewart about The Readiness Is All: A Solo Hamlet

Shakespeare’s plays are just as relevant today as they were when they were written hundreds of years ago, and adapting Hamlet from Hamlet’s own point of view is a fascinating project. Jo Tomalin talks to San Francisco based Laurel Scotland-Stewart about her academic background in philosophy and The Readiness Is All: A Solo Hamlet by William Shakespeare; adapted by Laurel Scotland-Stewart.

“Shakespeare’s tragedy becomes an extended soliloquy where Hamlet speaks to invisible characters and forces around him. The show explores Hamlet’s internal journey from shock and dislocation through madness to a final confrontation with himself.”
