Thursday – Day 5 of my Edinburgh Fringe.
Today started with a catch up with some of the team from Fringe Review. It was great to meet up with them all. All doing various roles, shows & they have really helped me this year. This will help me for future events.
Off to my first gig- 5 minutes- trying out some new material for my hour show on Friday & Saturday.
Today I decided to have an easier day as it’s exhausting ( at my age) so won’t for a delightful lunch at the Synagogue- amazing Salt Beef sandwich!!!
The gang arrive at 6 to do some flying for the show at 7pm . They are all excited. Tonight the show is being filmed for a documentary.
For the second and final time they all perform to an amazing level. They were incredible. Nearly a full house for the show.
A relaxing Indian with the team before they head home on Friday
2 more solo shows left. … better get on it.

Wellbeing.

What a day 2 of the Edinburgh Fringe!

This morning I attended a workshop with Fringe Review which was extremely helpful.
I then walked to my first gig at the 2025 Fringe- a 5 min spot at the one Liner Show – good crowd & a solid start for me.
The went onto Hibs Community Hub with a meeting the comedy legend Jo Jo Sutherland. Also had the pleasure of meeting comedy on Prescription Lu Jackson & others in the team.
They back to meet my mate Davy Mitchell @ Masai’s second show – another 5 mins with a tough crowd.
Now on my way to Surgeons Hall to fly for my solo show. Met some really nice people who were enjoying the Fringe.

17th August 2025

What a day. Long trip starting with first train cancelled.
However another was available. Even got to Edinburgh earlier than expected
Off to accommodation. Bit surprised as bed smaller than it looked in advert! But it will hopefully do. Other than that nice flat.
Off to venture. Picking up posters & flyers. Tech all done. Off to first gig – Bennett Arron- brilliant. Back then to Space for meet the reviewers & press! Then managed to fit a comp show at Peartree (where I debuted my show a few years ago) . Nice to see Dave Chawner for a few mins.

15th August

Just a few days before I set of on my Edinburgh Fringe 2025 tour.
Thursday saw myself & one of my comics for “Behind the Laugher” come for an hour or so rehearsal. Her set is amazing .
My rehearsal was around me doing my 5 min bits around the town at various shows ( Thank you Masai)
My old mascot is joining me for photo opportunities around the fringe.
My aim from Sunday is to find time to blog each day.
Also on Monday I am going to be part of Comedy on prescription. Please see attachment for a very important cause
Oh, and my COmedy Gala Film Screening! Look here.
7th Aug: last bits before Edinburgh.

Thursday morning: last practice session for the gang of 6. Getting the timings right for their 50 min show on 20th & 21st. There maybe even time for me to say a few words!!!
Thursday evening: Laugh For Life Comedy is holding its 4th showcase event from the teaching course for new students. This course was funded by Halton & St.Helens VCA ( for cancer awareness) with the individuals coming from the Charity – Come Together Hub from St. Helens.
Tonight at Hot Water Comedy Club we have 3 debutant acts Brian , Angela & Richard ( from CTH) doing their first ever stand-up comedy set. We are joined by other members of previous LFLC courses. Thank you to Robbie , Jeff & birthday girl Marie (86 yesterday.) Also a big thanks to Maura Jackson our MC for the evening.
With over 60 in attendance showing their support & £90 raised for our Crowdfunding appeal this was only just the start of the night.
Each act absolutely knocked it out of the park. As the teacher I was so proud of them all. Even if some don’t listen to the idea it’s only 5 mins !!! Marie’s 5 mins went to nearly 15 mins but the crowd just loved her closing the first half. Robbie had a great set and good prep for Edinburgh. Brianna also did more than I knew he would do on his debut which was amazing.
The second half continued on the rich vain of great comedy. Jeff’s rendition of a medical procedure just gets better & better each time he is on the stage.
Angela is next who with 2 short stories amazed me on how well she did as she was very nervous & almost backed out of the evening. I’ve now told her she is a stand-up comedian! To end was Richard- a polished & superb set which originally was 12 mins he perfected a set of about 8 mins. I was pleased he closed the proceedings.
What an amazing night , yet again.
Now concentration of my solo show in Edinburgh on 18,19,22 &23. With Behind the Laughter 20th & 21st.
Roll on next week
