The road to Edinburgh continues for the gang and more from the comedy course. On Saturday 26th July the famous Epstein Theatre in Liverpool is hosting ‘Laugh For Life Comedy Showcase’ for the first time since the theatre has re opened.
Supported by my good friend and comedian Matt Jones, he is hosting the eventing. On the night we 10 acts performing from the comedy course. there will also be a headline act Henry Churniavsky doing his shtich from his solo show being performed in Edinburgh.

The Laugh for Life Comedy Showcase is a unique stand-up comedy event in Liverpool, produced by Care Merseyside in partnership with “Laugh for Life Comedy” and led by comedian and mental wellbeing advocate Henry Churney. The event serves as the public debut for participants who have completed a five-week comedy course, which is offered as a form of “social prescribing”—a non-medical, holistic intervention aimed at boosting confidence and mental wellbeing through performance and humor.
Each showcase features new acts from the course alongside special guest comedians. The performances are held at Liverpool’s Hot Water Comedy Club at the Blackstock Market and have received positive feedback, with audiences and participants alike praising the atmosphere and quality of the shows. Organizers have noted these evenings are filled with laughter, and the projects have become popular enough to run multiple times, with increasing participation each round.
The showcases are designed to support mental health, giving participants the opportunity to perform on stage—sometimes for the first time—while building community connections. The project has gained local attention, with participants and organizers even appearing on BBC Radio Merseyside to discuss the impact of comedy on wellbeing. Some graduates have gone on to participate in broader comedy events, such as a show selected for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival’s ‘Keep it Fringe’ fund, further extending the initiative’s reach and impact.
