On the road to Buxton 13.7.24 with the gang

Sunday 13th July 2025. Myself and the gang of 6 made our way on a very hot day to Buxton Fringe. A 7pm performance beckoned for 2 WIPs for the Edinburgh Fringe.

First show was going to be ‘Behind the Laughter’ the gang of 6 were to perform (Jane, Robbie, Carmel, Victoria, Frank & Sue) with me Henry (Churniavsky) Churney as MC. The second was clips from my solo show ‘Life Lessons of a Grandfather’

the day started with picks ups in Kirkby, Liverpool. all 7 of us meet up at our rendezvous to get 2 cars on the road. The banter and the energy in my car was high octane. This was also the same in the car following us. An hour and half later we arrive at the High Peaks Bookshop. What an amazing place, so full of potential.

We all got out of the cars and took in the hot air, this could be an uncomfortable night if this heat continues. Full of energy and hunger we decided after seeing the venue we would head off to a pub for a bite to eat.

We find a pub in an industrial park, not the sort of place in the Peak District that would be your first choice. However, outside the pub was the amazing view of the Peak District. So a round of drinks were ordered with food. all now ready to perform.

Back to the venue, we set up. I say we, I did it all why the gang sat in anticipation and nerves. This was their first major full run of their show. we di not have an big audience, but hey we had an audience and we had a reviewer (I did not tell the gang)

The first half was their show, each act showing how comedy has helped their own mental wellbeing. Each set bang on…Well done said I.

after a break and a chat with the audience. I came on to do part 2 of the WIP.

The show finished and there was applause all around. What a great start to our mini tour.

We packed up…well I say we…I packed up and then it was back to Liverpool. the banter again in full flow.

So after8 hours we are home.

now getting ready for a big show at the Epstein Theatre in Liverpool were my gang will be joined by more from the comedy course to entertain a home crowd of upto 80 people.

below is the review of the night…the gang and me are so happy

see you soon
