Review

I have to start this review with a disclaimer. I’m a Francophile. I love most things French and Paris is the most wonderful place I have ever seen. So naturally I am drawn to a show like this.

The show is presentation of footage of Paris with a musical accompaniment by the presenter, Fred Fudara. Fred is a charming gentleman and a talented musician. The music that accompanies the presentation suits it very well.

From the start, as soon as I saw the Sacre Coeur, I was grinning. However, as I have already stated, I’m a huge Francophile. The footage was wonderful, but after a while it returned to the Sacre Coeur and the shops and restaurants in the near vicinity. There is so much more to Paris, yet it returned to the Sacre Coeur over and over again, with the occasional visit to the Champs Elysee and the Eiffel Tower. I feel that with the number of beautiful locations in Paris, there was no need for repetition.

While Fred is a talented musician and the music was pleasant, this show was a bit unpolished. It lacked that little bit of pizzazz that makes a show outstanding. Part of the Fringe’s charm is that there are shows of varying professionalism – there is always room for improvement in terms of showmanship and quality. But Francophiles will enjoy the virtual tour through Parisian streets.
