Brighton Fringe – Dance

We’ll be adding dance previews and picks throughout the Fringe.

There isn’t as much dance at the Fringe as there should be. These have grabbed our early attention…

Form

“We have all been bored, trapped in monotony. We have all dreamt of escape. Our minds construct fantastic worlds to break us out of routine, taking us to our own private paradise. But eventually we have to come back. We always have to come back. 20,000 paper balls, three performers and office equipment create wonderful vistas in a stunning visual voyage through what it means to be bored. Performers portray office workers happily oppressed by routine, except one.”

Ceyda Tanc Youth Dance

“Ceyda Tanc Dance, with three different programmes of cutting edge and dynamic contemporary dance, works with influences of Ceyda’s traditional Turkish folk dance heritage. Ceyda’s interests lie in challenging traditional gender representation in a contemporary context.”

Manifest

“A truthful story for all dream-chasers, choreographed by Matthew Harding (Artistic Director, Urban Interface Dance UK.) Dancers turn inner feelings into stunning physicality, working with a range of forms to reveal and express the trials and tribulations of life.”

The State of Us

“Fan Dance Theatre Company, Theatre inc. and The Magic Chocolate Show are collaborating as Danceability Collective for Brighton Fringe 2018. The three companies are from Brighton and Chichester and all of us exist to enable performers with disabilities to share their talent and inspire their audiences. Each company are exploring emotions for this show. Join us on our rollercoaster ride as we dip into different feelings, proving that although universal, not everyone experiences emotions in the same way. We use a range of art forms including dance, shadow imagery, theatre, comedy, music and film. “
